The book When You Reach Me by Rebecca Stead is really interesting. It is about a girl named Miranda and her best friend, Sal. One day, Sal gets punched by a random kid. Miranda tries to get Sal home, but when they pass the crazy guy on the corner, Sal runs home. He stops talking to Miranda. Soon, Miranda recieves a note telling her that someone is coming to save her friend's life. It also tells her to write a letter about the events leading up to the time the person arrives. Soon, Miranda learns that the kid who punched Sal is named Marcus . Marcus is very into the theory of time travel. The notes continue coming. Finally, one day, Sal is walking home and Marcus comes up behind him. Sal starts running away, and is almost hit by a truck -- but the crazy old guy on the corner saves him. He dies in the process. Soon Miranda realizes that the old guy was Marcus and that in the future, Marcus would build a time machine to come back to the past and save Sal's life. I think that this is a great book! It's really hard to put down!
