Gossamer by Lois Lowry shared by ataks

Gossamer by Lois Lowry is really good. It is about a dream-giver named Littlest One who gives dreams to an old lady and her dog. She goes with her instructor, Thin Elderly, who teaches her how to collect fragments by touching things and how to make them into dreams. Soon, an angry boy comes to live with the old lady. The leader of the dream-givers, Most Ancient, senses that the sinisteeds are stirring. Sinisteeds are dream-givers who pressed things instead of touching and turned evil. They give nightmares to people who are weak. Thin Elderly and Littlest One find out that the sinisteeds are targeting the boy, John, who came to live with the old lady. Littlest One and Thin Elderly try their best to protect John. John's nightmares are about his mother, who is trying to find a job so that she can have John back. Eventually, school starts, and John goes to the school that his mom works at. Then, Littlest One no longer needs to give dreams to John and the old lady. She and Thin Elderly return to the Heap, their home, where Most Ancient shows Littlest One the new dream-giver that formed. The new dream-giver is named New Littlest, and Littlest One is now known as Gossamer, for her gossamer touch. This book is great!
