The story Number the Stars is about how young Annemarie Johansen and her friend, Ellen Rosen, survive the Germans invasion of the Jews in Denmark. The Germans were desperately trying to find the Rosen's. They needed all the help they needed to hide or even leave Denmark for good. Annemarie's brother in law, Peter, helped make a plan for the Rosen's to be safe. Annemarie's uncle, Henrik, was the person who helped the Rosen's escape to Sweden. The Johansen's and Rosen's might never meet again.
