The Homework Machine by Dan Gutman is about Kelsey, Sam, Judy, and Brenton, kids with completely different personalities, who get along with each other because of a machine that does their homework for them. The machine was built by Brenton, the smartest of the group. When these kids were assigned to work together in class, Brenton told the other about the machine and from then on they used the machine almost every day. People were starting to find out about the machine. The kids knew they were going to get into big trouble. They had to think of an idea to use the machine and not get caught.
