Pop by Gordon Korman submitted by kitae

Pop is a book about a boy that moves away to a new state and meets a random man in a park while practicing football. The man's name is Charles Popovich, a great NFL player who had a 17 year career. His nickname was the King of Pop. Unfortunately, he developed Alzheimer's from too many concussions and his family tried to hide his illness.
Meanwhile, the boy tries out for the football team and succeeds. He falls in love with a cheerleader, Alyssa, who used to be with Troy Popovich, Charlie's son. After that, he realizes that Charlie had Alzheimer's and why Charlie kept calling him Mac. He sneaks off with Charlie to Charlie's old college, where he appears to regain his sanity and remember everything. They go together to Troy's football match, where Charlie climbs up onto a statue at the top of the bleachers. He looks at Marcus, his eyes clear and lucid, and falls off.
I liked this book because it showed a lot of info about Alzheimer's and what it can do to people. It's like they're living in a different reality from us. It's very sad.
