The Reptile Room by Lemony Snicket shared by sikar

The Reptile Room by Lemony Snicket is the continuation of the
Baudelaire orphans’ tragic lives. Now that Olaf isn’t their guardian,
Mr. Poe relocates the children to herpetologist Dr. Montgomery
Montgomery, or Uncle Monty. They’re happy and they’re reminded of
their old lives. He shows them the Reptile Room, where all of his
reptiles are. Among them is the Incredibly Deadly Viper, whose name is
a misnomer, and it becomes Sunny’s friend. But then Stephano, Uncle
Monty’s new assistant, comes to the house, and they realize that he’s
Olaf. They try to convey this to Uncle Monty, but are unsuccessful.
Instead, he believes that Stephano is trying to take credit for his
work, so he rips up Stephano’s ticket to go to Peru for a study.
Stephano murders Uncle Monty and tries to take the children to Peru
himself so he can get their fortune, but Mr. Poe unexpectedly comes
and learns of Uncle Monty’s death. He calls Dr. Lucafont, who says
that Uncle Monty was killed with the venom of the Mamba du Mal. The
children disprove that the snake killed him by showing evidence that
Stephano injected the venom into Uncle Monty. Stephano is revealed as
Olaf and retreats with the doctor, who is Olaf’s associate. Mr. Poe
takes them once more to find another guardian. I liked this book
because it was just as entertaining as the first, and it had new
things added into the storyline.
