The Bad Beginning by Lemony Snicket shared by sikar
In Lemony Snicket’s The Bad Beginning, Violet, Klaus and Sunny Baudelaire’s parents die from a fire that burned their mansion down. Mr. Poe, a banker who was their parents’ friend, sends them to Count Olaf, who wants the children because he thinks that the fortune Violet will inherit will belong to him if he’s their guardian. He realizes that isn’t true and is rude to them. The orphans live miserably. The children report his behavior to Mr. Poe, but they find that Olaf can raise them in any way he wants. Olaf layer makes them participate in a play. Klaus suspects that Olaf’s plotting something, and discovers that Olaf is going to really marry Violet to take her fortune. Klaus’ suspicions are verified and Violet is forced to marry him, or Sunny will die by being dropped from a tower. The wedding eventually comes and all the requirements for legal marriage are done, after which Olaf reveals his scheme. Violet points out that she used her left hand to sign the document required for marriage, but she is right-handed; because she did not sign with her own hand, she isn’t married to Olaf. Olaf gets away with the rest of his thugs, and Mr. Poe takes them to find another relative. I liked this book because the writing was funny, and the storyline was interesting.
