I find the book, Where I Want to Be, by Adele Griffin very interesting. At first, it was a bit confusing because Jane was on the other side, but came down to Earth to watch Lily. Even though Jane was on the other side she thought she wasn’t. Overall it was a good book. It is based on two twin sisters who are very different. The older sister’s name is Jane and the younger one is Lily. When they were young, they would visit their grandparents who lived near the forest and lake. The two would go off in their own world playing together. The thing was that Jane was different than other people; she had “special needs”. When they grew older, Lily stopped going to her grandparent’s house. She went to parties instead. She eventually stopped playing and barley spoke to her. When they were in high school, Jane was hit by a car and died. Lily kept thinking that it was her fault that she died. While Lily was growing up, Jane couldn’t. Jane always thought it was unfair because she thought Lily was prettier, had a lot more friends, and was loved by others. However, Jane claimed that their grandparents liked her more that made Lily a bit sad. Jane always felt that Lily was trying to ruin her life, when really she was trying to help her. For example the time it was the Senior Dance, Lily found a dress for Jane and did her hair a week before. However, Jane gained some weight and couldn’t fit in the dress on the day of the dance. Jane thought Lily was trying to make her look bad. Lily guessed that Jane didn’t take her medicine that day or something was bothering her. Even though Jane was dead, Lily could always feel Jane’s presence though as if Jane was following her. At the end of the book, both sisters thought they could have treated each other better. Some of Lily’s friends thought that Jane suicided. Lily thought if she treated Jane better, Jane might still be alive. Lily and Jane respect each other in the end.
