Gossamer by Lois Lowry shared by caken

Gossamer is about Dream-givers and their enemies that inflict nightmares. Gossamer is about a young dream giver named Littlest One assigned to a house. Her trainer thinks they are too old, so she assigns Littlest One to a new trainer. Two humans are in grave danger at the house because of the enemies of the dream givers. The enemies inflict nightmares and the dream givers have to fix the nightmares. The humans can't get rid of the nightmares even though they try. One of the humans is weak and can't fend off nightmares very well. Littlest One wants to touch the pet dog even though it is forbidden. Littlest One talks about it with her trainer and he says it is OK because it is going to save the human from nightmares. Then Littlest One touches the dog. The dream givers are afraid of the Hoarde coming because the dream givers can't do very much against the Hoarde. Because of her light touch on things, Littlest One was renamed Gossamer at the end. Gossamer was reassigned to a new house because she finished training at the house. Gossamer trained New Littlest as a dream giver.
