Fever 1793 by Laurie Halse Anderson shared by soand

The book, Fever 1793, by Laurie Halse Anderson starts out when a 14 year old girl named Mattie lived and worked with her diligent mom in the flourishing coffeehouse without her father, because of a broken neck. So her grandfather was replaced to help serve the coffeehouse. When the days pass by slowly, the Yellow Fever spreads across Philadelphia and people start dying everywhere, including Mattie's mom and her friend, Polly. Mattie was forced to follow her grandfather to a better place to live. When her grandfather caught the fever, they were dragged off the wagon on a deserted area far off from their coffeehouse. Meanwhile, Mattie was carried into a makeshift hospital by her grandfather for a few weeks. When Mattie and her grandfather returs home, she found the coffeehouse robbed by thieves and desperately helps her grandfather from getting killed by them, so she grabbed the sword from him and killed one of the thieves. Unfortunately, he was killed. One day, Mattie found a poor little girl named Nell on her way to home and took care of her the whole time. When the winter season came, the fever was wiped out and the business was back to normal. Finally, Mattie found her frail mother with the Lundington farmers and they lived happily ever after. I recommend this book to people who like adventure books.
