Mossflower by Brian Jacques shared by chkev

Mossflower by Brian Jacques is centered around a mouse called Martin the Warrior. Other main characters include Tsarmina the cat as the main protagonist, a mouse named Gonff, and a mole named Dinny. Martin, Gonff, and Dinny look for Salamandastron, a mountain where their only hope in saving their home and friends in Mossflower from Tsarmina's rule.

Martin the Warrior fought a band of Tsarmina's Dad's weasels. After a quick fight, Martin was captured and put in a cell. A fox entered the room of Verdauga and gave him medicine that was actually poison. Tsarmina, who banded with the fox, inherited the crown and banished her brother. Gonff the Mousethief was captured for stealing and put in the same cell as Martin. Soon, the woodlanders (peaceful resisters to Tsarmina) gave the mousethief his tools and both Martin and Gonff escaped by picking the lock. They met some woodlanders and were carried across a river to camp. Tsarmina the Queen soon ordered for Gloomer to be sent in the water. The otters released their own underwater battler, a giant pike named Stormfin, into the water. A battle quickly emerged as the titans did battle, but in the end, Gloomer the Water Rat drowned and lost. The woodlanders needed a spy. As a result, they hired a robin named Chibb for the price of a few bags of candied chestnuts. After a while though, Ferdy and Coggs who are two baby hedgehogs ran away to fight Tsarmina. Martin decides to go on a journey to Salamandastron the mountain to find Boar the fighter, the only one who can save Mossflower. They search for a hidden map purely from riddles, found it, and started the journey. After a long period of walking, they found a pond, looked for food, and continued. They were captured by three of Tsarmina's followers. However, they quickly escaped. They crossed a river and were saved from a snake and a new by a shrew named Log-a-Log. They sailed down a river, bailed out before a waterfall, and encountered bats. Meanwhile in Mossflower, the woodlanders started to resist Tsarmina. They killed one of her generals and broke prisoners out of the prison by infiltrating their castle. After helping the bats, Martin and his friends were captured by toads but broke out when they freed an eel who loves toadmeat from a pit. The woodlanders themselves thought up a brilliant idea. they decided to flood Kotir the castle with water from a river. By the time they got to the shore, they were hungry and thirsty. Gonff cheered the group up by dancing with a crab, and they left again. They encountered three hares who took them to Salamandastrom. There, they met Boar the fighter, and Martin got a new sword. He practiced with it and learned from Boar. Soon, a Sea Rat invaded Salamandastron and Boar, six hares, and Martin's group fought the many fighters. Boar died in the battle and all the others escaped in a river to Mossflower. In Mossflower, Bane, a fox, joined forces with Tsarmina. The woodlanders surrounded Kotir and squirrel archer shot any who tried to escape from windows or doors. As revenge, some woodlanders burned Tsarmina's room. Soon, Martin, six hares, one mole, and one mouse arrived back in Mossflower. The woodlanders and Martin's group surrounded Kotir and made a proposition: either flee and live or stay and die. Choosing to stay, Tsarmina's followers shot a volly of arrows to where the woodlanders used to be. Squirrels fired a quick volley of arrows. Because the mole dug holes from the river, Kotir started to flood. The woodlanders made a siege catapult and broke Kotir. Tsarmina was swept away, but Martin tracked her down and killed her.
