The Great Turkey Walk by Kathleen Karr shared by paris

This book is a boy named Simon Green who has to get money for his teacher Miss Rogers. The way he has to do it is by herding 1000 turkeys across the West and get to Denver, where he can get a suitable profit. A problem for Simon is that before he gets to go, some bullies from his school tease him about going with turkeys across the West. Another problem is that he meets his father, who later gets put in jail with his thieving friend Clover for creating a public problem once Simon makes it to Denver.This actually happened in the mid 1800's.
